Intimate weddings in the Brecon Beacons

Image
There's a light at the end of the tunnel!  Really there is, it looks like we and many other hotels will be able to open by the end of March, with weddings not far behind. We are so look forward to  seeing people again, as many people are I know. And with the re-opening comes the opportunity to be able to host weddings again, which is what we love to do! Now lockdown and the pandemic have taught us all many things, some of them not so positive, but also some huge positives, and for us one of the biggest things is how beautiful and intimate a small wedding can be. For all of us this last year has been a time for thinking about and reevaluating our own personal situations, and for many couples hoping to get married this has been the perfect time to plan a smaller wedding with family and very close friends, and with this in mind we, at Peterstone Court, have been dreaming up options for a small and intimate wedding for 15 - 30 people. With smaller numbers, sometimes there is a gre...

Zoom wedding planning

Image
Today was spent having a bit of fun and getting ready for our first zoom showrounds this weekend. It a bit nerve wracking but also so exciting to be able to start seeing couples again, it's  seemed like ages since we were able to chat 'face to face' and now we can, not just new couples looking to book a wedding in the beautiful Brecon Beacons but also couples whose weddings we are already planning. So what fun did we have? Well, the first part of the day was spent getting our celebration rooms photo ready, I tied sashes onto chivari chairs in our Beacons View room, a beautiful moss sash, which tones well  in the perfect setting for a smaller, intimate wedding day. With breath talking views of Pen y Fan, this gorgeous, light room is just ideal for upto 30 guests. I've been looking at some of the colour palettes for weddings this year, and decided to try one palette in the Pen y Fan suite, so more bow tying, this time with peaches and teal. The room is so versatile, and ...

How to book a wedding venue during lockdown

Image
We’ve all had to adapt to lockdown over the last few months , and it’s brought many changes , both good and bad. One of the things that has changed for the moment is booking a venue for your wedding . It has to be said that booking a venue is one of the most important things that you can do when planning your wedding day, and not being able to visit plus the high demand for dates is making that very tricky. Once you have a venue everything else , photographers, florists , cake , can all start to slot into place . So, how can you decide on a venue when you can’t go and see it in person ? I always think choosing your wedding venue is like buying a house - it can look great on paper and tick all the boxes , but until you walk through the door you just don’t know. At Peterstone Court we understand how daunting and stressful it can be to make a choice , and we have some ideas to help you .  Phone conversations are always useful , they can give you a chance to weigh up the feeling ...

2021 - weddings here we come

Image
Well this year didn’t start quite the way we had hoped did it ?! Another year another lockdown , but this feels a bit different for us , this time we have hope that it will be the last one and that once relaxed the only way is up , so we are using this time as an opportunity to fine tune things – time to perfect things that we do on a daily basis , time to reflect on what works and what needs to be improved ,time to create new things ,  time to look at our beautiful Georgian house and see if we can improve on the great things we did during the first lockdown .  Working in a silent hotel is a strange concept for us, the usual buzz of guests is not here but it does give us time to really look at things and perfect ideas which have been bubbling, so watch this space we have some great ideas that will be coming to the wider world in the fullness of time ! The end of 2020 was quite abrupt for us , as it was for many. One minute we had 4 weddings in 4 days , the next we were close...
