2021 - weddings here we come
Well this year didn’t start quite the way we had hoped did it ?! Another year another lockdown , but this feels a bit different for us , this time we have hope that it will be the last one and that once relaxed the only way is up , so we are using this time as an opportunity to fine tune things – time to perfect things that we do on a daily basis , time to reflect on what works and what needs to be improved ,time to create new things , time to look at our beautiful Georgian house and see if we can improve on the great things we did during the first lockdown .
Working in a silent hotel is a strange concept for us, the usual buzz of guests is not here but it does give us time to really look at things and perfect ideas which have been bubbling, so watch this space we have some great ideas that will be coming to the wider world in the fullness of time !
The end
of 2020 was quite abrupt for us , as it was for many. One minute we had 4
weddings in 4 days , the next we were closed and having to deal with the
fallout of very short notice closure . It seemed like the end of the year would
be a damp squib , and we felt it just as much as our guests and bridal parties
who had their plans changed with no notice . So we took a little time to see
the things that we had achieved in the week before our sudden closure – we did
manage to get couples married at very short notice, we realized that we could
plan and adjust with only a couple of days to make changes , and that what we achieved allowed
couples to have a beautiful day from what seemed a very unhappy situation- we
didn’t manage it for the couples after 20th Dec ,despite our best
efforts , but our plans for their
weddings are all going well , and a sort of ‘Dunkirk spirit’ has immerged .
One
couple , whose plans were changed so many times in the space of 2 weeks made
the decision to get married and forego the reception , just ‘cos they wanted to
start 2021 as a married couple , the bride looked beautiful but we felt we
could do more and so we did! Private dining in the library , with log fires and
candles seemed a beautiful way for them to celebrate their wedding ,and I know
they loved it .
There is so much to talk about , but this is enough for one post, suffice to say that Spring is coming , the days are getting longer and we are beginning to literally see a light at the end of the tunnel!
